After Long Wandering (words by F.W. Harvey Born in Harpery in 1888.
Tune – Based on Herr Roloff's Farewell. Arranged by R.A. Berringer)
My husband and I found these words carved into a stone plinth in Harperry village churchyard, Gloucestershire. We wrote them down and my husband found the tune he thought would fit. I have been as faithful to the words as possible only repeating the occasional word to fit the timing of the tune. It talks of the love of the writer's place of birth. The pleasure of being home is so great that it matters only to be there, 'alive or dead.
Singing, for me, is a form of expression, like no other
